GC II is a bituminous coal-based activated carbon that is impregnated with Iodine. This activated carbon is particularly effective for the removal of radioactive methyl iodide from nuclear fission products and mercury vapour from air streams. It is available in a variety of mesh sizes as well as in coconut shell base.

Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air causing a severe hazard to workers inside carbon vessels. Confined space/low oxygen procedures should be put in place before any entry is made. Such procedures should comply with all applicable local, state and federal guidelines.
